Motoring
- Share a car. Shopping, traveling to work, even kids days out, take a friend. You will save money and help the environment.
- The majority of cars on the road do not have their fuel mixture settings correctly adjusted. You could save up to 15% on your petrol by having this correctly set.
- Replace the air filter regularly. A dirty filter will upset the air/fuel mixture ratio.
- Re-sharpen your wiper blades with fine sandpaper to regain clear windscreen.
- Check for correct tyre inflation... this saves greatly on tyre wear and petrol consumption.
- Driving at 55 mph will save 10%-15% compared to 65 mph. Cut your speed!
- Don't waste petrol warming your car. Idle your car for 1-2 minutes and drive gently for the first mile or so. This will improve economy and lubricate the engine better.
- Don't carry weight around in your boot. Remove unwanted items.
- Don't fill your tank up to the top. Fuel can leak out when the car tilts and turns
